About Diwali

Diwali or Dipavali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world. Also known as the "Festival of Lights", Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over dark, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali brings Joy, prosperity, knowledge, peace and wealth. People celebrate Diwali through distributing sweets, gifts and thanks giving to each other.

Parade City Chambers, Edinburgh 14:45:00 16:15:00 Starting from City Chambers, a MINI FESTIVAL CAVALCADE Parade will be led by Lord and Lady Provost of Edinburgh along with 300 people in different International Costumes, carrying traditional Indian Colourful Diwali Lamps, accompanied by Groups of Folk Dancers from India as well as Highland Dancers led by Pipe Bands from local schools. There will also be other community bands and four floats carrying the Hindu Gods relevant to Diwali Celebrations. The Parade will end in Ross Band Theatre in Princess Street Garden.

Performances Ross Band Stand, Princes Street Garden, Einburgh 16:30:00 19:45:00 Famous Gujurati Folk Dance group Rangashree from Indian state of Gujurat will perform with live music. Childrens performace, Classical Indian dance, Bollywood dance, Bhangra and Celidh Fusion will be performed by various groups of performers on Ross Band Stand.
Fireworks Ross Band Stand, Princes Street Garden, Einburgh 19:55:00 20:30:00 The event will conclude with Communal Fire Works and Fireworks ( professional)
